Attendo’s operations started in the beginning of the 1980s when the company developed the first security phone in the Nordic countries. Under the previous name Svensk Hemservice, Attendo Care started their operations in elderly care in Sweden. The company was founded in 1988 and won Sweden's first outsourcing contract the year after. A rapid expansion came during the early and mid 1990s. Attendo Care won the award for “Service Company of the year” in 1995.
In the early 2000s Attendo Care’s operations was broadened to offer care services for disabled people. In 2004 the health-care company Capio Omsorg was acquired. The acquisition complemented Attendo Care's strong position in home care and innovation with Capio Omsorg’s long experience of developing nursing homes in-house. In 2006 and 2007 Attendo Care expanded the business further. Today, we also offer services in individual and family, which includes the entire chain of care from emergency- and family homes to transit accommodation for refugee children and family counselling.
In recent years, Attendo Care also experienced strong organic growth and today the company operates in 83 locations in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
Besides Attendo Care, the group until September 2005 also comprised of the two business areas Systems and Response, which offers services in security alarms and operates in large parts of Europe. In order to streamline operations within the group these two business areas were sold in 2005.
In 2007 Attendo acquired the Finish company MedOne, who is the leading provider of care and health care services in Finland. MedOne is currently one of Attendo Group's two business areas.
