The competence, commitment and care of Attendo employees are critical to ensuring that our customers, patients and their families are satisfied with our efforts. People in various phases of life, with varying nationalities and needs, benefit from Attendo’s care and health care every day. That is why a diverse workforce is so important.

Our values, competence, commitment and care, guide us in our day-to-day efforts to fulfil the vision: Empowering the individual.

Satisfied employees

Attendo has more than 24,000 employees in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. We believe it is essential to be an attractive employer and that our employees should be satisfied with their individual work situation as well as with their employer and their immediate manager. That is why we continuously track employee satisfaction. This is accomplished mainly through annual appraisal interviews and day-to-day dialogue.

Attendo is diverse

People at different stages of life, with different nationalities and with different needs, take part of Attendo’s care and health care each day. That is why diversity among our employees is important to us, not least in terms of cultural background.

Every employee shall be treated respectfully and given the same opportunities to develop. Attendo has proud employees that stand for equality for everyone and that make a difference in care each day. We actively counteract all forms of discrimination.

Strength lies in the culture

Everything we do is based on the individual. Clients that receive Attendo’s services shall always feel safe, secure and independent and receive help that enables them to grow as a person. This forms the basis of Attendo’s vision of Empowering the individual, which our culture shall bear.

Attendo consists of many independent units in several countries. The operation is governed by internal guidelines and instructions as well as external laws and regulations. Our values are important guides and also function as tools for coordination and quality.

Leadership according to Attendo

All leadership in Attendo is based on our model, our culture and our values. With us leadership is all about responsibility, visibility and accessibility. A leader should be open and clear in their communications as well as he or she should be responsive to others’ ideas. Communication in the leader role is extremely important considering that Attendo’s leaders have many contacts with different interested parties.

Leadership shall promote opportunities for employees to take responsibility, actively participate in decision making and develop both professionally and personally. Attendo’s cooperation with the organisations that represent our employees is a natural part of our development and improvement work.

Competent employees

Work within Attendo is characterised by initiative, responsibility, participation and openness to changes. Employees’ competencies, commitment and care are critical for clients, patients and their relatives to be satisfied with our services.

For us, competence means that our employees have the right knowledge, experience and commitment.

As an employee at Attendo you will always receive:

  • A thorough introduction with, among other things, supervised shifts and mentoring.
  • Annual performance reviews based on the company’s and employee’s goals.
  • Competence development based on your individual plan.
  • Opportunity and encouragement for job rotation.
  • Opportunity to acquire specific responsibilities for a department such as purchasing or becoming a quality coordinator and evaluation coach.

Employee climate surveys complements dialogue

As a complement to our daily dialogue, we regularly conduct employee surveys. The surveys’ results are expressed as an index within the areas of commitment, competence, participation, helpfulness, leadership, work environment and health, values, work and work situations, as well as a total index.

In addition to the large employee survey, we continuously take a so-called temperature measure of the employees’ work situation as well as how satisfied they are with the work and their workplace.

Safe work environment

At Attendo our employees share responsibility for safety and satisfaction at work. By acting proactively and preventively, we reduce risks and contribute to our employees’ health and safety at our workplaces. In certain operations, managers and employees undergo regular training in judging risks and acting in ways that enables threatening situations to be avoided.

Attendo follow-ups sick leaves to help employees return to work as soon as it is appropriately possible. The closest manger is responsible for contacting the employee on the first sick day, regularly holding discussions regarding rehabilitation and ensuring that long-term sick leaves are handled systematically.

Attendo also continued its work with LGBTQ related issues. In 2016, an additional two care homes were certified by RFSL, one of which, Attendo Bunkeflogården, became the first nursing home to be LGBTQ-certified. The certification process involves a thorough training programme based on the principle that residents, employees and visitors must feel respected and included, regardless of sexual orientation and identity.
